Not Much Longer to Wait!
The past week or two has been a flurry of activities at the Shaw house. The new carpet came in and it looks WONDERFUL! Josh did a great job making new thresholds for the doorways. We are packed for the hospital and the car seat is in the car. Now we are just (not so patiently) waiting for the baby to come!
Davey got to spend yesterday with my parents. Something got into him on Sunday and he couldn't stop asking to go to Grandpa's house. Poor thing was pathetic...he convinced Grandpa to come and pick him up at the sitter's early in the morning and they spent the whole day playing. Luckily this morning we got a 2-hour delay so Davey gets to sleep in and try to make up for the fact that there was no nap yesterday! I hope Dad gets the same luxury.
This afternoon I have what I hope to be my last doctor's appointment! I will try to update this post with any info they give me on my progress. I am finding that I give very different answers to people when they ask, "How are you feeling?"... and it all depends if they have been pregnant! Because anyone who has been 40 weeks pregnant KNOWS how I feel! :)

Some more time off!
It seems like the only time I get a chance to update the blog is on snow days. We had about 6 inches come down on us today and they have already cancelled school for tomorrow because of more snow, blowing, and drifting. I did get a lot accomplished today and I enjoyed some one-on-one time with Davey. The number of days are getting smaller when this can happen. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks until my due date. I am up to weekly appointments and things seem to be going just fine.
Davey cracks us up each day with the amount of words coming out of his mouth. But of course, with the cute things comes the comments that make you realize that he still is a 2-year-old. Like for instance, when he gets frustrated or completely disagrees with what I am telling him to do, he will growl his words at you. (Totally a Josh-thing!) Today he reminded me that I need to cough into my elbow. And he has realized that Daddy is the one to call when there are bugs or anything to fix. Mama is called when you are hurt.

Next are some pictures of our latest endeavor on the house...
Ugly red carpet before...
Josh's nephew, Joe, removing the carpet to reveal great quality, painted steps.
Well, then we had this mess...read below.
But not to worry! Josh to the rescue!
Floor is stronger now than in 200 years!
The next construction project on the house is underway and of course it is not without surprises. Josh and I were hoping to save up the money to get new patterned carpet for the hallways and a matching runner up the stairs. That would be the end of all the 1960 hideous carpet (you can see from the pics that it was cardinal red...but at least it wasn't shag like the rest of the house was!). We knew that we would need to paint the railing and spindles to match the carpet. And I really wanted the squeaks in the steps to be softened at least a little. All of that went off without a hitch. However, once we removed the carpet from the first floor hallway, Josh found that the joists would need to be replaced. He still has the new heat registers to put in...ones that won't leak. The new capret was supposed to be installed Thursday, but with our slight delay we changed that until next Wednesday. I will make sure to include pictures once it is all done. We are just hoping that the baby doesn't decide to show up a little early...we are excited...but NOT READY!
